Scott Singer Honored as Visionary Governance Champion by the Cybersecurity Summit

Scott Singer, CEO of CyberNINES and Interim Managing Director at the University of Minnesota's Center for Medical Device Cybersecurity, has been recognized as a Visionary Governance Champion by the Cybersecurity Summit. This prestigious award acknowledges C-suite leaders, board members, or elected officials who exemplify a strong commitment to cybersecurity and serve as champions for information security programs. Nominations for this award are considered from security practitioners across the industry. 

With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in the military and 31 years in the private sector, Scott Singer has made significant contributions to the field of cybersecurity compliance including extensive experience with regulatory frameworks and government contracting including Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS), HIPAA, medical device (ISO 13485), and cybersecurity (ISO 27001, NIST), aerospace (AS9100) and nuclear (NQA-1)  

Most recently, Scott co-founded CyberNINES in 2020 and led the company’s 2022 voluntary Dept. Of Defense audit to become the nation's 26th CMMC Certified Third Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO).    

Beyond his corporate roles, Scott Singer has been an active contributor to the cybersecurity community. He has served as the past board chair for the Minnesota Technology Association (MnTech) and as a board member of InfraGard. In June 2021, he testified before Congress on the costs to small businesses to comply with the Department of Defense's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and currently chairs the C3PAO (CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organization) Stakeholder Forum (C3PAOForum.org).
